Online shopping has been a huge lifeline for costuming and burlesque on Maui. Living on an island is limiting for shopping so I buy a lot online. Stores here only have costumes in stock at Halloween and the fabric stores on island tend to specialize in Hawaiian Print and quilt fabric. Sometimes there’s really no other option than online.
Amazon plays the biggest role in online shopping for me for both costuming, burlesque and my mom, muggle life. Once Prime became available in Hawaii it’s been my go-to for a lot of things. When we had kids we started using Amazon Subscribe & Save because the diapers we preferred weren’t available on-island and were discounted on Subscribe & Save. Amazon Subscribe & Save auto-delivers the things you buy regularly once a month. You set a recurrence frequency for the eligible items, but you get the option to adjust or add items each month, and can skip or cancel anytime.
With Amazon Subscribe & Save the more items you buy each month the more discount you get (up to 15%), so we’ve found a lot of things to add to our list each month. In addition to the standards like diapers, formula, baby food, household items, and toiletries we’ve found some awesome standout items too. Here are some of my favorites:
Filthy Cherries – I found these through Shaker & Spoon (my monthly cocktail subscription) and was thrilled to find out they were available on Subscribe & Save. These are amazing cocktail cherries. I’ve recently started drinking Old Fashioned cocktails and these are the perfect addition.
Filthy also has Black Cherry Syrup, Olive Juice, and variety of stuffed Olives that qualify for Subscribe & Save.
Birthday Party Supplies – fancy paper plates, tablecloths, decorations, etc. You probably won’t need them monthly, but the month you need them, you can just add them to your order.
Rhinestones and Glue:
Cricut, Vinyl and Other Supplies – If you craft frequently you’ll need a steady supply.
Pastie Tape and Boob Tape
Amazon also has a variety of makeup and makeup removers on Subscribe & Save. Check it out if you haven’t already, and if you have, add some of these things to your list!
