Pumpkin Spice Syrup Recipe
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!! Fall is here and Halloween is right around the corner. What better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than making your very own pumpkin spice syrup!
What you will need:
- small pot or saucepan
- whisk
- ½ can pumpkin
- 1 ½ cups water
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp cinnamon (ground)
- 1 tsp ginger (ground)
- ¼ tsp nutmeg (ground)
- Salt and pepper to taste (trust me)
Start with your pot on the stove at medium heat. Add about 1 ½ cups of water followed by ½ cup of packed brown sugar. Bring these to a gentle simmer. Now, add about half of a can (approximately 8 oz) of pumpkin to the mix and whisk until smooth. The sugar should begin to dissolve and your kitchen will start to smell wonderful.
Add ½ cup of maple syrup to the mixture followed by your spices. The measurements for these are what works for my taste, but feel free to monkey with the ratios until you come up with something that works for you.
Allow the mixture to cool and transfer to a glass jar or container. Pumpkin Spice Syrup will keep in the refrigerator for 2 weeks.
